Do I need to buy cables for my HIS monitor?

We ship our Panel Mount monitors with standard 6 foot video and touchscreen serial cables. 15', 25', 50', and 100' extension cables are available as options. Cable length for Universal Mount monitors are specified at the time of order. See our Cable Options page for more information. [collapse]

How far can I extend my monitor away from the computer?

There are two issues - the VGA video and the touchscreen serial or USB. As far as the video is concerned, we have used up to 100 ft. of coaxial cable with our 15" monitor and it looks good, but not perfect. A 100' extension kit is also available that includes a small amplifier for improved picture quality.

We have tested our serial touchscreens at distances of up to 100', although results may vary depending on cable and computer hardware used.

In order to extend USB touchscreens, we provide 16' extension cables. These units have integrated USB hub, which limits daisy-chaining to 5 cables for a total distance of 95' (when used with standard 15' USB cable). See our Cable Options page for more information.

To achieve distances of up to 1000', we also provide KVM extenders which can be integrated into our Universal Mount monitors, or simply placed near our Panel Mount units. These extenders transmit the video, touchscreen (serial), and keyboard/mouse functions over commonly available CAT5 cable. [collapse]
